I have served on the MSLA Board as the Legislative Committee co-chair since September 2005. I enjoy community activism and politics and LOVE libraries--so this is a great fit for me. I have been elementary school library teacher in Waltham since 2003. Prior to that I worked as an elementary school librarian in Arlington, and before that I was a program coordinator at the Robbins Library in Arlington for 6 years. In that capacity I organized a host of author visits, workshops, puppet shows, fairs, crafts, and everything else under the sun with funds generated by a substantial grant to the library. Prior to joining the library world, I worked as a medical editor and writer for 18 years. I have a B.A. in English Education from the University of New Hampshire, and a M.Ed. in Library Media Studies from Salem State. I live in Arlington with my husband Bob Carter, our children Abby and Rob, an orange cat and lots of small caged pets.
