Administrator Advocate for Excellence in PDF Print E-mail
The award will consist of a plaque to the award recipient and $500.00 for materials to the school library of the recipient's choice.

Purpose:
  • To honor those who support the integral role of the school library in the educational program.
  • To honor those administrators who have made contributions to the promotion of effective school library media programs and services.
  • To recognize the responsible and influential role of the school administrator in developing successful school library programs.

Eligibility:

City, town, or district school superintendents, assistant superintendents, and building principals currently in administrative office and directly responsible for a school/group of schools at any level, are eligible for nomination.

Nomination Process:

1. The individual making the nomination must be a member of MSLA.

2. The Nomination Form will be completely filled out.

3. A supporting letter by the nominator must accompany the application form. This letter must substantiate that the administrator advocates for school library media programs, recognizes the need for certified school library media personnel, and supports the central role of the school library teacher in developing effective school library programs.

Nomination Guidelines:


1.  The statement of the nominee's contribution toward furthering the role of the school library media program will not exceed two [2] double-spaced typewritten pages.

2. Supportive data will be included in the text of the statement in narrative or tabular form. Supportive data may include but is not limited to:

  • Quoted material from school board minutes, public speeches, published articles or other resources.
  • Statistical data such as student enrollment, average per pupil expenditure for library materials and number of school library media specialists and support staff.
  • Specific examples of the nominee's contribution to the concept of effective school library media services.

3. If, in the opinion of the awards jury no worthy candidate is identified, they may recommend that no citation be awarded.
