After graduating college with an MBA, I began my first career as a business systems analyst and MIS consulting programmer before I retired to raise my children. My library career started when I volunteered at the Davis School Library in Bedford, MA where our very own Doris Smith was the librarian. When my children entered middle school, I decided it was time to head back to work full-time. I was the Library Assistant and later the Computer Lab Assistant at the John Glenn Middle School in Bedford for 5 years. During my last year in Bedford, I decided it was time to make a commitment to libraries and information technology and decided to return to graduate school to pursue a degree in the school library field. I landed my first official library position at the Bright Elementary School in Waltham where I worked part-time for 1.5 years and later transferred to my current position as Library Teacher at the Northeast Elementary School. I have been in this position for over 4 years and thoroughly enjoy my peers in Waltham and all that my wonderful students have to offer. I feel truly blessed to have found such an enjoyable, satisfying work experience. Interacting with my peers at MSLA has helped me understand just how indispensable school libraries are and the important influence library teachers are to the intellectual well-being of our students. I have served as MSLA Secretary since the September 2005.
