The Librarian provides general support for the successful integration of print, audiovisual and online materials into the Fenn library and promotes their use with library users.  He or she supports faculty in their efforts to integrate the library’s resources into their teaching and encourages the use of varied technologies in the library program.  The Librarian collaborates with faculty and with library volunteers and reports directly to the Head Librarian.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Head Librarian with book, software and multimedia selection and collection development, and with ordering, processing, circulation, cataloging;
  • Assuming primary responsibility for ordering and maintaining print periodicals;
  • Providing assistance in organizing and maintaining the library environment;
  • Orienting students to new research and reference tools in collaboration with faculty;
  • Teaching library classes in Grades 4 and 5;
  • Working with and training parent volunteers on a variety of library tasks.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.L.S. degree and/or library certification from an accredited library school;
  • Knowledge of children’s literature, young adult literature, multicultural/diversity resources, and current technologies that support school libraries (e.g., Web 2.0 applications);
  • Knowledge and experience with integrating information literacy skills and research models into school curricula.
