As I prepare to graduate from the Simmons School Library Teacher Program in May, I feel excited to be spending another year with the MSLA Student Interest Group! I am currently doing my first practicum, at the Boston Arts Academy/Fenway High School Library. I really enjoy interacting with the students there--they are so creative and interesting! Through the day-to-day reality of being a school library teacher intern, I feel that I am beginning to get a handle on what it means to be a teacher librarian. In this process, I am continually inspired by BAA/Fenway’s Mrs. Deborah Froggatt, who treats students and faculty alike with grace, humor and warmth. Her library is truly the hub of the school. In terms of the MSLA-SIG group, we are looking forward to an interesting year with two major events: a school library teacher career panel in November, and our annual spring conference. Thanks in advance to all the MSLA members who will be presenting at these events!
