The Executive Board of MSLA met on Wednesday, October 18 at the Westborough High School Library. There were 23 board members in attendance. The Legislative Committee has set the date Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the State House for our annual school library day. As part of the excitement of the day, we will be starting our annual Bookmark Contest this fall and presenting our winners at Legislative Day. The committee is busily working with our lobbyist to promote legislation that supports school libraries and certified library teachers in our public schools. At our annual conference, held October 29 and 30, we announced that Roland Boucher, Principal of the Marshall Middle School in Billerica, was the recipient of the Administrator Advocate for Excellence Award. Another exciting conference announcement was the change in our organization’s name, logo and website, http://www.maschoolibraries.org. We know that all the MSLA members that attended the conference had an enjoyable experience and learned a great deal to keep them on the cutting edge of their craft. — Carol Klatt, MSLMA Secretary |
