Leigh BarnesI have been Western Region Co-Representative since 2009. I am also the moderator of the MSLA Listserv. I received a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College in Boston in 1997, a Masters in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004, and a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of New England in 2011. This is my seventh year as an elementary school librarian in the Pittsfield Public  School district in Berkshire county where I work on a fixed schedule serving about 500 students in two buildings per week. I believe that effective school libraries are essential for ensuring all students are prepared for success in the Information Age, and continue to advocate for bringing our programs up to professional standards of staffing and funding.
