There is an anticipated job opening at Boston Latin School (grades 7-12) due to a retirement. BLS is an exam school in the Boston Public Schools.
A bit more detail about the job opening at Boston Latin School (a grade 7-12 exam school with 2400 students in the Boston Public Schools). The library is well-supported and appreciated by the admin team and community of Boston Latin. Our program has grown over the last ten years yet there is a lot of room for growth. Some details of what the job would include:
- There are a number of established guided inquiry projects, with others being developed, in which teacher teams and the librarians share responsibility.
- The librarians provide regular instruction to students.
- We use libguides for our website and maintain a digital collection for researching.
- NoodleTools is used regularly by students and teachers, including the notecard feature.
- Programming (speakers, authors, book clubs, knitting groups, etc.) that provide enrichment and help us connect to students is encouraged.
- We have over 150 student volunteers, who are awesome and help us with staffing the desk, shelving, book processing, etc.
- The Keefe Library has two librarians, and we are hoping to grow over the next couple of years with Boston's commitment to investing in school libraries.
